the technical ability is spot on and if I were rating solo based on that then this would be 4.5-5 but my desire for meaningful music supersedes any technical cravings

Also, hey Mike I checked out temple from one of you last threads and enjoyed it, I just got it last night and it's sounding really good so far.

Revocation are pretty different from what most bands are doing now IMO. I think that's why they get a
lot of attention from websites and end of year lists.

I also would say they are tech thrash first with death metal elements. On the last album everybody was
complaining about the death metal tag they were given because nobody could really hear it(not saying I
agree). Only now with the variety of vocalization it is obvious.

I don't see why. You said this lacked emotion in your opinion and that is an important aspect in music for you.

I agree with DooRight on the emotion thing. Sometimes, emotion is a big aspect for me, but other times I just want some fun tunes and the solos in this are too good for me to downrate.

Also, hey Mike I checked out temple from one of you last threads and enjoyed it, I just got it last night and it's sounding really good so far.

Yeah, man. I was really surprised at how good it was. One of my favourites of the year.

@Non - well yeah but people get really offending and judgmental and as you can see I'm in the minority here.

And I agree the solos are very nice here as is the execution of riffs and like mentioned before the technical execution is of
high merit but that's only about 10-15% weight of my ratings. Also being the same reason why I respect brutal and technical
death metal but I despise it for enjoying purposes.

Imo an example of technicality coupled with effective emotion would be from none other than the mighty Ulcerate; particularly
their latest album "Destoyers of them All". Both their drums and riffs are fresh, innovative, inspiring, and emotive, all of which
completes the puzzles of what I look for in music.

I must have forgotten we are on the internet. At least you gave a valid reason. Most people are like
"I don't like it cuz it sucks" or "this music is too gay".

The last songs guitar work is especially sick. Could be the best I've heard so far this year, honestly.

"If it's generic, it's at least really well done generic."

The "generic" tag gets thrown around too much undeservedly. Revocation have their own sound.

Bassist was a principal song writer and singer IIRC.

Yeah he was. It wasn't obvious that he shared vocal duties because they sounded so similar. However,
I think the vocals are better on here than they have ever been.

Maniacally Unleashed is the weakest track on this.

Please explain why they are generic then. Honestly, if I could find 2-3 more revocation sounding bands I would be ecstatic.
