"and that song is their most blatantly church-influenced. Not lyrically but melodically," wtf? also, plumage is the best song on the album guys. that bari sax is so goddamn sexy. in fact whole album is great and brent knopf sucks a dick, so does ramona falls.

No.

what is this neck thing. it's dumb. please stop. and yea, plumage best song on album. then pique. then heavy is as heavy does. and yea, brent knopf had the weakest voice by far and totally sucked live. he did however add the most variation as an instrumentalist.

Ok. I must confess I was wrong. This rules... especially when compared to other indie rock releases of the year I've heard.

I'm getting a slight feeling of "stadium rock" off some of this album - which is not cool. Definitely
not as good as their previous efforts; I'm giving it a 3 but hopefully it will grow on me.
.....it's growing on me.. up to 3.5

With the loss of multi-instrumentalist Brent Knopf, creative Portland outfit Menomena lose a bit of their spark on 'Moms'. While their unorthodox musical smorgasbord is once more pleasingly evident - & arguably tighter than ever - the now duo only sporadically translate that into memorable hooks & melodies. The focus is instead placed on the forthright familial themes which tie the tracks together, coaxing out a laudable raw emotion which will hit home for many listeners. One thing is for certain; this densely layered LP is not a casual listen & requires a few spins to get a true grasp of. Recommended Tracks: Plumage, Pique & Don't Mess With Latexas.
