Getting a choir to say "bullshit" in a song is sex for the ears.

If I made a list, making the internets not fun anymore would be near the top. ;) lol Seriously, some of the threads on this forum make me glad I am too ancient to give a fuck.

What do you guys think of the demo CD, Epiclouder? I think it's at least as good as Epicloud, maybe even better. It's mostly songs that wouldn't have fit on Epicloud, but most of the songs are ridiculously good nonetheless. Little Pig makes the world taste yummy

I've only listened to it once so far, but I thought it was pretty darn good. I'll have to give it a few more listens and get back to you.

'Heatwave' could've slotted nicely in between Where We Belong and Save Our Now. 'Little Pig' would have made a sweet "Hidden Track" or whatever after Angel, like what he did on Physicist and Terria and Synchestra. 'Believe' could have taken the place of Divine; similar effect, but Believe is better. Etc, etc, etc, you get the point. I think a lot of the Epiclouder tracks could have fit the flow of the actual album well, and a lot of them are better than some of the actual album tracks.
At the very least, 'Heatwave' should have made the cut. It was only dropped at the last minute if I remember correctly...Why?!

Honestly, from my listen, nothing on Epiclouder sounded like it would have fit on Epicloud. Again, gotta re-listen, but I remember thinking "These are AWESOME. But I see why they didn't fit in".

"These are AWESOME. But I see why they didn't fit in"
Precisely. But I think some of the junkier songs on Epiclouder were just Epicloud-ish songs that didn't make the cut because they frankly kinda suck. Anyway there's enough awesome standalone songs to make it an awesome "album".

One of a handful of modern musicians that has yet to disappoint me...thank you for you consistency Devy. Good review, while I feel it deserves a little higher of a rating I get it, and enjoyed the write up.

Intro is a tad long, but still a great review, man. The album kinda feels like Addicted Pt. II, but in a good way. It has a song for everyone!
Crazyfool, I totally agree. Most stuff coming out today is extremely disheartening. Though, I've recently gotten into a bunch of Indie music, and found stuff like Minus the Bear, which are absolutely fantastic. Maybe you aren't crazy...

Realizing the only reason I haven't lowered this is the demo CD...

The bonus disk kicks the shit out of the "actual" album.

Sad but true. I've slowly realized there's only a few great songs on the actual album.

Let it be known I think Mr. Townsend is without question one of the best producers of all time.

I'm realizing overall, Dev's newer stuff mostly doesn't hold a candle to his pre-sobriety stuff. Sure there's a good amount of awesome stuff, but for whatever reason, his music's lost something. Maybe he's going for a "big picture" approach with his music now? I feel like the albums for the most part lack a deeper meaning now. Perhaps he wants it that way. Regardless...
