I'm so confused. Everyone likes Animal Collective... almost everyone that matters though likes Animal... Collective?

I do! I like it but not as much as their other albums. =)
It's the production. I like the songs but the mixing lets it down for me.

Haha! I don't know what that's supposed to mean! XD
Brilliant!

I think it came out at a bad time for me too though because I've really been digging the new Grizzly Bear, Bob Dylan and Mount Eerie.

i will agree with you that the production could be better. it was produced by the same dude who produced MPP, so it's kinda weird

this reminds me of their early albums in some parts, in how it's kind of dense and noisy. sounds like spirit and here comes the indian mixed in with their last few albums

That is weird. MPP had just a good 'pop' to all of the songs. The sounds really bounced around your ears. In comparison, this seems really flat to me.

You're totally right though. It's very dense and the same focused groggy sounds of their earlier albums. Maybe after MPP, the more poppy direction they took there just warmed to me too much.

Maybe that's what it is. I still think really highly of these guys. This is a good album in my opinion. =)

I agree completely. Maybe that's why this was a let-down for me. =/
I really expected that level of embossing on the ears but it doesn't happen here. Everything is so condensed and flat in my opinion.

i think this is actually better as a full listen (except moonjock maybe) than as individual tracks fo' sho

Yeah, I listen to 99.9% of my music as a whole and this totally works together but man, the production. =(

dunno. there's some layers of stuff in here that i can't even make out what it is, but it doesn't bother me much. the lower end of it is at least great, lots o bass.

i think if you look beyond the production, which i agree is kinda so-so at times, you find some of the best melodies that they've ever done

I preferred the melodies on MPP. Maybe because they soared so much there and had this pop emphasis lashed alongside them but I dunno... yeah, I dunno. =P

I think I like Feels the most too but MPP is a very close second to that. =)
