Fantastic record, I don't understand how people are saying this is just a lazy re-hash. Like Ali said there is way more of a electronic presence that just makes this whole thing so damn special, and my favourite album of the year so far.

an utter blur of an album

What the hell a 5?

Album Rating: 2.5
They're saying that because this is pretty uninspired compared to their first album. I 2'd this originally, but I let it sit. Listened to it again and I like it. I think people are being a bit to harsh, but I understand why.

it's closer to a 5 than it is a 2 or 2.5, that's for damn sure.

I can't say I'm really that disappointed in it. The debut was good, not as great as everyone made it out to be.
This is a minimal album, definitely a grower, but no where near as solid as their first. It feels more laid back, a gamble for a band with a lot actually riding on them considering the success of their debut.
I still haven't decided on a rating, it'll probably be a 3 or 3.5.

I would've rated this a 2.5 on first listen too, but I let it grow on me and I'm starting to enjoy it more. It's nowhere near as good as their self-titled (which I have at a 4.5), I'd say after some time to grow on me, I'd give it a 3-3.5. It has its redeemable moments.

Pretty much everything I hated about their debut that I put up with because of how catchy the songs were is even more repetitive and apparent on this album.

Love their first album. This is a good review, but I'm hoping so bad that I disagree with it when I finally get my hands on this bad boy

this def isn't a 'lazy rehash' and there are some redeeming qualities in the album as i mention (more complicated beats, greater variety), but i felt like time could stand still in the debut. when the music paused in their first lp, i had an overwhelming urge to get further seduced by romy and oliver. this time i don't feel like there's nearly as much passion behind their back and forths.
hope others enjoy this more though. jamie xx's increased presence adds an interesting dimension to the sound that i hope they can work with effectively in lp3

I'm really enjoying the album but that might have something do with me not having listened to their
debut all that much until now. Nice review though!

Yeah, this review pretty much sums up exactly how I feel about the album. Nice work as usual Andy. I don't understand the praise for this at all.

I do, it's ahead of most music nowadays sonically.

Sonically, it's not ahead of anything. Atmospherically, you may have a point. However, this is in no way as compelling as their debut.

"Album was damn disappointing. Just so....bland compared to their debut."
This.

Album is incredibly boring.

I literally just fell alseep listening to this. Not even joking, I was listening to it for the first time and I fell asleep for 2 hours.

I thought their debut was good but boring in spots. If this happens to be more boring, I probably won't even sit through a listen of it.
