Based on the the DEI or DIE theory, it's fair to suggest that Periphery should fucking DIE

Good review, but this is a terribly innacurate statement: "The mechanical, jarring nature of the guitar work clearly pays homage to metal titans Meshuggah, however the riffs found on Gnosis are more dynamic and interesting than anything the aforementioned has released in years".
The riffs here are anything BUT original and do not hold a candle to anything Meshuggah has ever done. I find Monuments album to be the same old boring djent that most bands are producing these days (with the exception of a select few). Very repetitive, lacking in dynamics and complexity but all that said, ther are some interesting melodies here nonetheless.
Further, the vocals are horribly one-faceted and boring...Neema will be sorely missed.

if the bands sound nothing alike, then how you can justify calling them ripoffs? If that were the case, then I guess we could say Meshuggah ripped off the whole genres of jazz and tribal music. Those were the original genres that first utilized polyrhythms and syncopation. So, technically, all you can really blame this band for is stealing a guitar tone and that shit literally happens all the time. I'll give respect to Meshuggah for bringing that style of groove to metal and making it popular, but claiming them to be 100% original or that they are the only band that can use that style because it's theirs is pretty retarded. Nobody's style is 100% from scratch because that shit always shows through when you play. Whether or not certain bands use the style well or not is completely subjective.

@Chuck- I'm like dust in the wind, man. I just come and go. Plus a lot of times my comments get buried in a flurry of others. I try to be sensible, but the main reason for my rant is that people love to cry "Ripping off the MeshagGODS!" anytime a band has grooves and I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't really like Meshuggah that much. They're not bad, just not my cup of tea

you seem like a sensable fellow as well, good sir. I commend you for not going off on me for my original comment as most fans of the band would have lol. I will say, though, that Koloss is a solid album.
