This album is number 7 in my top 50 post-punk albums from 1978-1989.
Perfect for november weather as long as there is no sun, same with Opposition - Breaking The Silence and The Chameleons - Script Of The Bridge and few others.
For me it is impossible to listen to those 3 albums when it is sunny and warm.
Also I love the bass guitar on Heaven Up Here, takes me immediately to a foggy or rainy place in west england at a sea. I wish I could live there.
By the way I don't understand how someone can call this album new wave when it is clearly post-punk.

Listened to Porcupine (1983) a long time ago but haven't found it very interesting. Maybe I'll give it another chance soon. Don't know their other albums except this one and Heaven Up Here.
But I doubt any other album of them will be near as great as Heaven Up Here. Especially atmosphere-wise, I absolutely love the atmosphere on most songs on this album (thanks to how the bass guitar sound for example).
I don't get the 3.9 average rating. This album deserves something like 4.2 just like The Chameleons - Script Of The Bridge.

I also always thought that Heaven Up Here (and generally a lot of other things) is better than Porcupine. Porcupine is probably their most extravagant and off-the-wall record, but it just doesn't stick out to me with anything.

Maybe Porcupine wasn't atmospheric enough for me, I need to check it out again some day.
It's exactly the opposite with Heaven Up Here. As soon as I listened to the first song Show Of Strength I was immediately extremely impressed by the strong (and late autumnal) atmosphere and even the worst song is very good. No surprise that it's among my all-time top 10 post-punk albums.
By the way I'm glad I have the version with the bonus track Broke My Neck (Long Version).

Favourite songs:
1. Show Of Strength
2. Broke My Neck (Long Version)
3. Over The Wall / All My Colours
5. It Was A Pleasure / With A Hip / Turquoise Days
8. Heaven Up Here / A Promise
10. The Disease / No Dark Things / All I Want
No song deserves to be last place, all of them are amazing. It will always be a post-punk masterpiece. Broke My Neck (Long Version) is a bonus track from the version I have and I'm extremely thankful I have that song. They're all perfect for november-like days like today.
In my music world only 6 post-punk albums are slightly better.

a wonderful album, it's a pity they didn't continue in this direction
porcupine was still okay, but after that they went for a bigger sound and they lost their edge
