@SoxRock Have you heard 10 years' songs Try Again or Vicious(Parasite)? They are far heavier than Knives.

Kill yourself. Chevelle, until their last album, have been the best radio rock band of the last decade.
Wow Maniac, I didn't know you felt this way, what a surprise. Wanna do coffee or something sometime?
Also, I tried that stream on myspace, couldn't get any songs besides "Backlash". Must be doing something wrong?

@Captain
What exactly was the same? LMAO at saying your Beautiful is wasteland comment. You actually made me go and listen to the 2 songs back to back and again no similarities.
Here is the thing, TAE was an album full of atmosphere and moody hooks and Division had none of that. Lyric and delievery totally different. Guitar work on Division was not as layered as on TAE. So in what ways exactly do you say that the 2 albums are similar?

I also forgot to mention, the Tool influences on TAE were almost nowhere to be found on Division.

The one thing I'll say I'm digging so far on this is the variety of sounds. Last album was good but it was just louder songs sounding samezee after a while.

Speaking of Tool influences, I felt ...And All The Other Colors had a Tool vibe.

@shearpanic I should have said heaviest song in the Hasek era of the band.

"@IndianaWarLord: A year or so ago I would've been happy to name Red alongisde the leaders of the pack, but that last album had "burnt out" written all over it. Maybe they'll redeem with this next one."
Never really liked red, there is a band called fades away i think that im a big fan of, sounds a lot like red if i remember correctly

I put The Butterfly Effect and Dead Letter Circus right up there with with 10 Years and Chevelle. Might as well put Karnivool up there too, even though they really only have 2 good albums.

"only have 2 good albums. "
They have only released 2 albums. Shooting 100% as far as I'm concerned.

I meant the volume, not the percentage. Neither of their EPs were anything special, though. DLC only has one LP, but their EPs are great too.

Eh, TBE only put out two good albums an an EP. Third album was poor. But still head and shoulders above 10 Years and Chevelle

"Head and shoulders"? I think not. Imago is the only album they have that competes with 10 Years' best.

I don't get why these Aussie bands are being compared to American hard rock bands, little different in styles, especially DLC who has more of an electronic edge as of late. DLC are great, gotta agree with Alondite though, TBE really had "Imago" and the rest were just not as good.

I think 10 Years has more in common is them than it does with the American bands they are often compared to.
DLC's new single does have a bit of an electronic edge, but then again Minus The Machine has some as well. The subject material and overall style are still pretty similar though. The Aussie bands all seem to share the "slithering" vocal style (though it's somewhat less prevalent in DLC) with 10 Years too.

I love 10 Years, but they're still just a hard rock band barely better than their contemporaries. Imago is a shittonne better than Autumn Effect which is their best to my ears. But Begins Here was also excellent as was their debut EP. Yeah early 10 Years was pretty good, but Division was only ok and Feeding was a lot worse than Conversations by TBE.
|
| |
I really don't like this album...boring,boring,boring.
|
| |
Ok, now I've listened to this and...well, yeah it's pretty boring. A little more experimental by 10 Years standards, but not even slightly so compared to anything thats not alt rock. The atmosphere was really what drew me into Autumn, so theres not much here for me except the dude's voice and a few choice cuts.

Yeah, I pretty much predicted it.
Even though the way the review describes the album makes me want to puke

I love Imago but to say it is better than TAE is pushing it a little. TAE is the greatest album I have listened to from any of the bands that play the same type of music. Themata is the only record that can spur with TAE jab by jab. There is just something about TAE that gets me everytime.
