He's starting to get over his compulsion to add quarter-note ride cymbal hits to everything, which is a major plus in my book. Seattle was really good; will check the rest of this out later.
Great review, too.

Just listened, I like this, but it's a pretty low 4 so far
The reprise of This Isn't is amazing

holy shit I can't stop listening to Seattle
the build-up from 3:45 on with the climax at 7:25 is undoubtedly one of his greatest moments

Making Will Mad and Our Crazy Night win it for me, The Focus is great too

my problem with those two tracks, especially the last one, is they sound WAY too much like siamese dream, it's insane
especially our crazy night, it has cherub rock written all over it

Yeah dude Seattle is mindblowing. It gets really epic in the first half, then that dynamic shift happens and the next part just builds into an epic wall of sound.

his trademark, rules
|

Album Rating: 4.0
His trademark is combining a series of measures in odd time signatures into a long part that repeats in odd intervals that he makes sound seamless which I deem to be cloudkicking.
The way he structures his songs and the way he layers guitar tracks to create alot of ambience are really influencing me right now. Ill probably incorporate these musical ideas into the sludge metal project I'm working on.

yea that's the long version heh, definitely the layering of multiple guitars, he's said if he wanted to recreate it live to do it total justice he'd love to use something like 9 or 10 guitarists

lol That would be sick, I bet it would sound badass as long as the mix was good. You could definitely pull off studio type trickery/nuances with the extra guitarists and obviously play each track that he individually plays on the record.
He's also said that he's trying to cut down on the layering to just a few tracks and just get as much as he can out of each one.
