No, not a Rest alt, just somebody who doesn't like your god awful music.

Their taste doesn't really match with other rest alts so they may not be one. But then again, 1'ing almost all Above the Graves albums...

Dude. Wouldn't you 1 them too? xD Like, I actually listened to all of them and I can wholeheartedly say I hated them.

aubergine i get what you're saying about sampling but take it from someone who has done both: sampling is harder. trying to fit pieces together is a lot more difficult when you're not the one writing them

i'm not saying it's not difficult, i guess i just prefer original compositions because i like the
creativity. i still respect artists that sample, and i enjoyed your ep a lot, it's just not really my
thing most of the time. i like more melody bases stuff than music with samples that tend to be more
repetetive. i don't think you can say one is always harder than the other necessarily, it depends on
the song itself.

well duh but usually they just loop instead of progressing as the song goes on. i like music that has a more post-rock structure as opposed to a hip-hop structure if that makes sense.

that's very challenging to do with limited resources at your disposal

exactly, that's why i like composing my own stuff because it's more flexible, i don't have to work with limited resources. really it's just a matter of preference.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'm convinced that you have a rather narrow perception of what constitutes sampling. Of course you've got your repetitive stuff (normally vocal snippets but it can certainly extend to anything), but you can also use a sample as a basis for an original composition. Not just using the borrowed piece as a starting point and simply expanding upon it, but by actually manipulating and twisting that sample into something entirely new, and adding to it as the song goes on. That's still a sample, but it's not the cut and paste hackjob that your comments would seem to indicate as being the only logical use of sampling

i get what you're saying, obviously i'm speaking generally here. here's one of my favorite sample-based tracks because it adds original material to the sample and builds on it rather than just being repetitive.

For someone who seems to have discovered electronic music recently you really don't seem to have a vested interest in any of its aspects Aubergine

i like what i like, i'm not going to make myself enjoy something that i don't just because it's generally well liked.
