i don't necessarily dislike them, i just prefer musicians that make their own music.
But who is to say that the result of these combinations isn't something new? It's not like they simply take two songs and splice them together like a mash-up, they're taking the wholly separate and creating something cohesive out of it
it's like an author taking his favorite chapters from several books, combining them, and then acting like he wrote it.
Yeah, it's kind of redundant to compare something that has to follow a narrative arc with something that only chooses to do so. No one is passing this off as something truly original, or claiming that they alone made this; they come from a sample-based culture and they advertise it as such. This is all just differing opinions, but you need to stop looking at things so straight and narrow

yes i realize this, but it's kind of implied when it's their name on the album cover. again, i'm not gonna knock people who use samples or who enjoy sample-based music, i would just rather listen to musicians that build their music from the ground up with their own original compositions. also, there's the whole issue of copyrights which makes it pretty difficult for anyone who's not kanye west to effectively make sample based music without risking getting into a sticky legal situation.

Well of course it would be, they've "constructed" (for lack of a better word) the product that you're hearing. It's not like you're gonna open up the booklet and not find a "created entirely by samples" notification or whatever
also, there's the whole issue of copyrights which makes it pretty difficult for anyone who's not kanye west to effectively make sample based music without risking getting into a sticky legal situation.
But this has nothing to do with you (the listener's) lack of/enjoyment of the product

i know, i was just bringing up a seperate point. even if i did want to make music with samples, it's pretty hard for a normal person to obtain the rights to them (at least in the US where we have pretty restrictive copyright laws.)

Well if you sample something that's immediately recognizable you're a) asking for trouble and b) not doing a good enough job. It defeats the purpose if I can turn on a track and go "oh, he sampled Beiber"
