Hm. I never got into Vessel. Maybe I'll give this a try.

maybe this is just more interesting to some people than anything lil b or anyone under the designation of 'cloud rap' has done. definitely is for me.

and why would only white people listen to this? that sounds like a pretty retarded ignant statement

lol this is white ppl rap. just like Juicy J and trap music is generally black ppl rap. but i don't get mixed up in all that. thankfully i'm neither black or white ha
not really digging this at first listen, but it's not terrible
i tend to favor Jedi Knights Circle better, specifically Optimus Rhymes

The Grouch is a whitey too, but makes good stuff

There's a reason we have stereotypes

and i'm not saying u have to be white/black to listen to either or. just saying that's the overall demographic for these types of music, for whatever reasons. it is what it is

werd, i understand the generalities of white/black hip hop, i just tend to read too much into it when people say stuff like, "and i just mean no one but white people would listen to this". realized he probably meant generally after the fact

I enjoy so much mainstream music cam, thats not fair. Why is it a big deal that I legitimately dislike lil b? I dig main attrakionz, asap rocky, clams, among others. Why cant someone pick and choose what they enjoy out of every genre? That seems incredibly close minded to generalize taste based on the fact that ive heard a lot of awesome music this year that so happens to be more conscious bent.

Also, a big whatever to your hype train comment. Most of the people posting here have been excited for months at this release.

basically i'm just annoyed that sobhi constantly jocks albums like these when he ignores or has some misbegotten elitism over stuff like lil b or cloud rap or so on, which is way more interesting to me than dts or whatever.
and cam completely nails it

oh come on. i get where you're coming from but there are so many better albums to prove your point than a dark time sunshine album
|

Except that he didn't nail it at all. Liking music is subjective, so who cares if he ignores 'cloud rap'? And the only thing resembling elitism to some degree regarding Sobhi's opinions is his Death Grips review (although I agree with it), but again, who cares? It's refreshing to have opinions that go against a consensus.
I actually agree with the notion that 2012 is the best year in hip-hop in, well, a while. And that's coming from a person who's been immensely satisfied with both mainstream and underground releases.

It's ridiculous how much better than Vessel this is, and how impossible I thought that was.

tbh I wasn't a huge fan of Vessel. There were a few very good songs, but the whole just didn't seem very focused. I feel that's been fixed with this album which is why it's one of my favorite albums of the year.
