Whoa, Marrow of the Spirit dropped a year and a half ago already? Man, time travels fast...

This was much better than I was expecting after Marrow, so I am pleased. It doesn't, however, even touch their old stuff. I like how heavy - how unexpectedly heavy - this was, but the riffs are still lacking and the variety in instrumentation isn't nearly as important a feature as before.

After reading this I'm convinced that you really should he the front runner for a contributor spot. Really solid work man, always a pleasure.

There are a fair few things that need fixin' in this here review, such as:
For a band with such a mutual creative talent, it's a lot better for them to just let them continue forging their own path and not paying attention to what people want or expect.
remove the second 'them' and change 'paying' to 'pay'. Mostly small stuff like that, otherwise, what Xeno said.

Also, 'farcry' is two words, not one.

Dropping the acoustic atmosphere is seriously going to kill Agalloch for me. But I do like how they upped the production standard on this one. Did not expect this to be so heavy.

Nice review Noctus. Still need to hear this b/c bandcamp isn't loading at the office / haven't felt like getting some headphones hooked up to the PC at home.
And yeah, echo the sentiment about the acoustic stuff...the instrumentals on The Mantle (especially Odal & Hawthorne Passage) are some of my favorite Agalloch tracks.

Exactly how I feel. I need to give this a good listen though.
