Hoooollllyyy crap so I was talking to this dude at a show yesterday and he gave me a wristband for a band of his friend's. I didn't think anything of it, I thought they were probably a crappy local band. So I go on Sputnik today and lo and behold, the band, Icarus the Owl, is featured on the front page.

Listening though the album now, seems pretty darn good.

Bought it on the strength of this review. Love it, this is why I visit Sputnik. Hats off sir!

been listening to this the last few days omaha, the tapping parts are pretty fun to play
|
| |
I was thinking you would really enjoy this from a guitar perspective joe
|
| |
yea for sure. other than the over use of repitition, i think it's a pretty solid album. and i'm a sucker for any band that taps, haha.
|
| |
so is this better than Dreamhouse?
|
| |
Lol. So you love Scale the Summt? Haha
|
| |
haha yea. they got me wanting to speed up my tapping and get better at guitar in general. those guys are pretty sick. and not sure who that is @loveisamixtape
|
| |
Yeah StS is awesome
|
| |
agreed. if you ever find other bands that use the technique, rec me please.
|
| |
Will do
Idk if you like Periphery, but hey have some sweet tapping parts

steveconygre - thanks a ton for the kind words, man. :] that's the reason I review.
jdennis31 - glad to hear you like it as much as you do. I don't play a ton of guitar, but can imagine it'd be a blast to play.
loveisamixtape - I would say so. Dreamhouse was just too inconsistent for me, whereas this album meshes together much better. It still has variation, though - enough to keep me interested throughout the record.
And hell yes Scale the Summit is great.

it's great.
also nice review, pos'd for sure.
anyway, your recommended bands should be something like broadway, lower definition and i, the mighty bro .) it's not that indie(-ish) at all. technical pop punk seems no bad choice tbh.
ps: new wallpaper over here, yay!

finally started listening to this. i'm on track 3
it kind of takes a second to get used to but it's cool, I guess. it's definitely catchy
|
| |
great album, but the vocalist is fucking annoying at times with his over punkiness or whatever
|
| |
glad you guys enjoy it. It's funny, the reaction the singer's gotten - when I listened to this album a few times I didn't hear anything that I thought people would dislike. :P
