True indeed. I always find it hilarious though how some people from countries (like Russia or the US) can sympathize with the 3rd. Reich and their ideology when their party program from the beginning on stated all slavonics and US Americans are enemies.

Coming out of a Victorian literature class on "degeneracy," I've come around to the idea that art doesn't rest solely in ideals we can relate to or define easily, so Arghoslent being racists has no bearing on the quality of Hornets, and goes a long way to validate their ability to express these ideas in this fashion (rather than an ironic appropriation of the story, or simply telling it as someguest suggests, but feeling it). Actual style is probably helping in avoiding uncomfortable lyrical issues. Should they be supported? idk, I'm not pulling my morals into this. Good music.

But a lot of Gothic literature is hilariously racist, fears of the "oriental other," etc.

Does not come as a surprise considering that was still a big thing ~100 years ago.

if anyone is offended by any death metal album, they've missed the point, and shouldn't be listening to death metal in the first place. are racist lyrics really worse than goregrind or porngrind or any other violent messages present in the genre involving murder and rape? and yes, i realize most of the artists in deathmetal probably don't practice what they preach, to the full extent anyway. but does anyone know how active arghoslent are in regards to their ideology? i'm curious. are they active haters off the stage, or are they just the deathmetal poster boys for the white power folk; only "taking action" on stage, like any other death metal band? oh, and love those riffs

not really, but the problem is these guys are serious about it whereas bands like cannibal corpse and such aren't.

Why can't you be around here more often?

You do worse things on a daily basis than listening to a racist dm band and you don't even know it.

Nobody gives a shit about the content of the music, it's more about deciding if you actually want to support someone whom's ideology you might not even tolerate.

lol

"In the United State one constantly endures unpleasant interactions with the descendants of these dark and unaccomplished people, and therein is a source of disappointment and irritation that is manifest in some of the descriptions in our songs.

But do not think for a moment that this implies a belief that if one is born white, one is superior. On the contrary, this country knows its current unenviable position because the whites here are so pathetic. Our scholastic performance is below average, our president is a cowboy buffoon, the value of the dollar is laughable, we are in a recession, culture is a foreign concept, foreign policy is an afterthought, we throw billions of dollars at fighting an immortal and intangible concept in the Middle East, and all this as the country is run by whites that were elected by whites. White power? I think not. In fact, the best thing for this country would be for a certain non-white Democratic candidate to win the presidency (and yes, to point out the obvious, he is a very impressive, accomplished man, not the 'simian abomination' referenced above; people should be more discerning when interpreting blanket statements; a country full of men like him would be a far worthier country than one crammed full of corpulent white trash rednecks). But all this just makes for less interesting song material, hence the focus on historical intrigues."

When viewing Arghoslent I feel a certain unity of Philosophical ideals and musical expression. Do you feel that makes for more sincere art which in turn has a bigger impact on the listener? If so, why?

POGROM: I do believe music and message go hand in hand, however you may be reading too much into our death metal. It isn’t a philosophical nor a socio-political movement. This is plain and offensive prejudice through music.

One thing Arghoslent is not short on is controversy. Do you ever see Controversy as a means of awakening and motivation within your audience? Is this an intention and if so what effect would you like to have upon your audience?

POGROM: It isn’t our intent to try to convert or enlighten anyone. Death metal is a negative form of music and we adhere to that concept. I am totally uninterested in the mob's reaction to an Arghoslent album. If you like what we do good, and if you despise what we do even better.

There is some truth in what he's saying here.
