Compared to their other works this one is weaker. Still, pretty solid and enjoyable.

This is so much better than people give it credit for. I think it's just because it's more like ambient music and ambient is a bit too 'niche' for most sigur ros listeners?

Digging: Taylor Swift - 1989

maybe i should check this. i thought this was more in the Takk... direction, with the accessibility and pop (not that that was a bad record, I just prefer the more ambient/experimental stuff, like their first 3 albums). but if its more minimal.like ( ) or Agaetis maybe i'll give it a spin.

Digging: Autechre - LP5

It's completely different again. It's sigur ros without the post rock, but definitely not like Takk... at all. Jonsi doesn't even sing for half the album!

Definitely do check it out. A lot of people think the album's really mediocre but I don't think it's really a record for them. Varuo is the only thing that sounds like anything they've done before (hence why it's most people's favourite song...)

They played three songs from the new record when I saw them a few weeks ago, and they were all incredible. Polar opposite to Valtari sound-wise.

is your summary a joke on the fact that the chime melody in the song valtari sounds just like twinkle twinkle little star... or is that a coincidence?

Wow I bought a Sigur Ros live album on vinyl that isn't even added to the database.

I'm shocked excited and all sort of Geddy Lee

new song:

very upbeat. i really like it. less of a focus on atmosphere than brennisteinn and much more about the hooks. could see it being a radio hit with the sweet, poppy chorus.
