I've had a few of my friends dismiss great Japanese bands that I know they would like just because they can't understand the lyrics. Who cares! If you care about lyrics so much just read the damn translations. Enjoy the music.

thoughts on that new song?

honestly, it's a little weird to see her trend-following (with the electro/brostep/whatever the fuck you wanna call that SKREEEEEEE section) when she's usually the trendsetter. It's like, bro, you're kind of late if you're hoping to be relevant....

decent song though, but not as good as the stuff on this album

usually i agree aids but Nakata is a good enough producer to make it work really well. same with the way 5th Dimension is produced, which really does need a review since it's one of the best things so far this year

5th dimension is album of the decade so far.

I wouldn't call Invader trend-following though. Like half a year to a year ago I would've agreed but now we're already so far into or even kinda past that le wubs and le drops trend that it really isn't anything special anymore.
Video is A++ as well. The DJ is mad cool.

ha yeah they're both necessary. 80's/early 90's j-pop is the best though.

only problem with kpop is that it's a bit more homogeneous and there are less bizarre, experimental artists like those that are inevitable with any style of japanese music

don't forget incredibly generic and trendhopping. they had bass drops in their songs as soon as skrillex became big
