"well this album really is awsome, tho my favorite is still Lammendam. definitely another great addiction to their discography."

Really? Lammendam? Why?? lol

"Nah it's true. Being that I'm not a fan of symphonic bm really, it's kinda surprising that I liked their previous album. It was catchy, over-the-top and pretty fun, but I don't like the genre enough to hand it (or this album, likely) a 4.5."

Hm, well like I said to Hyperion I usually rate things I like .5 higher than what the average rating that ends up appearing on sputnik for the album. Plus I think I also made clear in my review that I am in the same boat as you are lol. I strongly dislike the vast majority of black metal that uses symphonic orchestration, but as you and I both know Carach Angren is an exception to this for most people that are like us....

"How about emperor?"

Emperor is one of the only other bands like Carach Angren that I listen to, other than Pensées Nocturnes.

True, although I think that this album beats it.

its more heavy on the symphonies, but their first flows really well and its such a fun listen too. the second album was cheesy as hell but still awsome. m/

Thanks man! It is definitely better but if you didn't like their last two releases you may not like this one because it has the same style and techniques.

"Damn fine custard."

But yeah, this is really good. There's a reason these guys do symphonic black metal better'n anyone since Emperor. Although I still slightly prefer Death Came As A Phantom Ship (if only slightly).

So far nothing Carach released has disappointed me. Hopefully this album continues that trend.

Comparatively, this shit is bad . . . definitely lacking the oomph of the previous two albums, especially Lammendam.

the second half of Lammendam has some of the best stuff these guys ever wrote but this album isn't bad, quite the contrary.

The band explores knew areas with this album. It may not look so to an outsider of the genre, but Carach Angren make some interesting steps forward that actually connect them with genres outside of SBM.
