In my opinion, comparing this to James Blake is just as shallow as comparing it to Daft Punk's "Around the World". It's really quite a stretch.

i don't get why it is shallow for me to feel two things have a connection but i understand and so forth nice things
also i dig that song but i don't think it's a well executed lyric in this way, prob why i didn't think of it.

Shallow is the perfect word, as in there is no depth to the connection, no meaning.
EDIT: I don't want to insinuate that I don't like the review. I do. It is well-written.

What a disappointing year it's been. Brother, Sister shits all over this.

paxman: except that there's pretty obviously...unmistakably a solid and justifiable connection.
Drsmith4: Why would you possibly compare this to Brother, Sister?

"Drsmith4: Why would you possibly compare this to Brother, Sister?"
...because it's by the same band?

Did you seriously just say that there is an undeniable connection between mewhithoutYou and James Blake and then ask a user why he would compare this to Brother, Sister? You're a fucking idiot.

Drsmith4: Those albums are 6 years apart and if you know anything about this band you'll know that no two of their albums sound the same. Besides, it's unfair to compare an album to what you consider to be the band's tour de force.
paxman: To reiterate what Adam Knott said: try to comprehend what you're reading. There is no way you're that slow-witted. Robin was never comparing the two genres, he was comparing Blake's approach to song writing.

Matthew: The inevitable is unfair and vice versa. Unless you're of the opinion that the trajectory of a band's progress is totally random, like if U2 released an album of whale noises. Also, I must know fucking little about this band because all I hear is watered-down sameiness. Plus, what's "sound" have to do with refusing to contextualize a singularity within a greater output? You can't nullify comparison just like you can't nullify negative opinion. Sorry, but it seems like you're just in this to argue.

In the case of mewithoutYou, their sound is constantly changing, so it shouldn't be compared to an album it shares very little - if anything at all- with. Contextually I can see you saying you prefer one over the other, but look at the way you worded it. I know that comparisons are inevitable, but they're also kind of irrelevant at this point.
Also, "Plus, what's "sound" have to do with refusing to contextualize a singularity within a greater output?" This whole sentence reads nonsensically to me.

Really not trying to argue as much as just debate, but I apologize for my aggressiveness.

Look, dude, I can respect your opinion. I totally can. But "look at the way you worded it?" Man, don't bring semantics into the question of whose-opinion-is-more-valid. Because that's so Sputnik and you're better than that.
I don't enjoy this album. I wish I did.
PS: I don't mean to be confrontational. It's been a day.

Interesting all this love for "All Circles." Its a quiet bland finish. I didn't mind it the first few times I listened to it, but that has changed since then. The song I can't get out of my head is "Grist For The Malady Mill."
