How good is this compared to their other albums? And the vibe i'm getting from this review is that this album is much more personal than their others?

I'd call it their best, although it could easily be seen as a separate entity since it's quite different. And it is a lot more personal, you're right. One of my only real gripes with the later albums is that they do make the mistake of slipping into clichés - although the way they play off that is quite interesting.
