breaking-this is one of many instances where an album has received a lot of "this is what good music is" type of hype and I have listening and just felt meh toward it.

Your statement wasn't even factually true and you say so in the next sentence.
He probably called you an idiot because you accused "sputnik" of ALWAYS (meaning all the time, every time) "hyping the the fuck out of music that is decent at best."
Then you point out in the very next sentence that that isn't true, "At least you all aren't five-ing this."
Also, DECENT isn't even an appropriate adjective to describe music, unless you wishing it to uphold some moral standards, which doesn't tell you if it is good or bad anyways.
Decent means conforming to moral and ethical codes or standards.
You sure look stupid, describing a release as "DECENT" and contradicting yourself.
