First Kayo Dot album I listened to, definatly an experience.

Seeing this band live is also a great experience.

It's like Isis on acid or mushrooms.

Gave this a listen recently, but I don't find this nearly as enjoyable as Choirs Of The Eye.

I should probably feel left out for not liking motw at all or not liking kayo dot much, but instead I just feel like everybody else is insane.

That said, the most I can complain about here is the awful ambience. Waiting for minutes for some real music to happen is unacceptable. Someone who likes drone shouldn't be able to get bored, dammit. This Message Edited On 01.08.09

What defines "real music?"

I'm assuming you're going to say, "like chords and shit man," so ya, please prove me wrong.

Real music? Sound, preferably. I'm really just talking about Imortelle, after the more poppy part ends. It's just a little too slow, I think. Drags out. That said...

___ on Limpid Form = Holy shit

edit: Bleh, I'm stupid. The ambience isn't that bad. It's just not enjoyable for me. I won't deny that this is a great album anymore. Now onto choirs...This Message Edited On 01.08.09

Funny, today I randomly listened to Imortelle on the way to a lecture almost just to hear the ambient part (the whole thing was thoroughly enjoyed, though).

This album is great for late night "Sessions". One of my all time favorite albums.

"Metal to me has always seemed over done, badly produced and incredibly repetitive (but not in a good way)
I've listened to plently of metal in my time. I don't criticize things before I listen to them, I've heard plently of metal bands in my time. People are constantly trying to get me into it. But, it's all very similar. I mean sure there are tons of genres, death, doom, black, power, grind, etc. but in those genres most of the bands sound like one overall great band that they are all trying to copy. (Cryptopsy in Death Metal for example). I only see this kind of pointlessness in metal and pop-punk. Anyways, negging my review because of an opinion is retarded. It's a good review, and you guys are just being asses because I hurt your little feelings."

Reminds me of women saying all men are equal, which again reminds me of no woman possibly having so much experience. That said, no genre in the world has so much diversity like Metal. When you compare Psyopus or Messhuggah with Metallica you suddenly see the difference, or even compare two bands withing the same genre Unexpect and Meshuggah. Of course, there are tons of boring metal bands out there, and for many Kayo Dot and MOTW are amongst those bands since maaany of their songs are slow and reminiscent of post rock...as a matter of fact, most of their songs ARE post rock and have NOTHING to do with Metal and CERTAINLY nothing with Avant Garde. Of course, it fits into the scheme of the reviewer not liking metal as these bands have very little to do with metal. As for the "I've listened to a lot of metal bands in my time," well, I suggest you seriously take that back, I've haven't heard a more stupid comment in days considering the first sentence quotes above.

Now onto both bands... Their both ok, nothing spectacular, NOTHING avant-garde, just your ordinary mesh of post rock and black metal (mind you, not even death, no technical nature whatsoever). There are good songs on some albums, there are bad songs, but none of them are either good or bad enough to be remembered.

NOTHING avant-garde

lol. WTF this guy even know what avant-garde is?

no technical nature whatsoever

Just because it is not shredding doesn't mean it isn't technical. ie. the trumpet parts before the dissonance in ___On Limpid Form, or any violin part.

no genre in the world has so much diversity like Metal

This is such a void argument. You're an idiot.

Well it's the same thing as with the review, just the opposite. That said, it's indeed a stupid thing to say, not to mention highly false. On the music, I still can't listen to it. Think I'm gonna rate it now.
