A few more listens now, and this album is quite amazing.
The production's fantastic, too. Portnoy's drums sound vibrant and Rudess proves a winner with his first Dream Theater stint.

I really would like to get into this band. I've heard a few songs and although nothing really blew me away I'm very interested.

I finally got a hold of this, and wow. Thats all I can really say. Ive only had it for a day so far and I can tell that soon I will probably end up rating this a 5. But thats too soon to call right now. This story is absolutely phenominal, probably the best concept album I own.

I got this album along with ToT two days ago

It fucking owns, my fav out of the five DT albums i own (i got 6DOIT yesterday as well)

Most of the songs, other than Home, (which is now my favorite DT song, i never thought i'd like a DT song more than octavarium) Beyond this Life, and The Spirit Carries On, none of the songs really stand out by themselves. But as a whole, the album is so eepic and memorable.

And i don't think i'll ever get the chorus to home out of my head.

God I love this album, i think it may be my favorite alum of all time now actually.

Call me crazy but as of now, I think I may like Dream Theater more than Opeth *-* I never thought that would happen to me....but lately Opeth has been boring me a little bit, I think I listened to them too much in too little time (I got 7 of their albums in a little more than a month, the one i llistened to the most has 27 listens and the one with the least has 9)

And lately I'm liking Blackwater Park more than STill Life, wwhich previously was my faovirte album ever.....

If anyone reads this, i'm guessing i may get flamed, but go ahead.

"horribly over-the-top, ridiculous, boring prog rock band"

You need to kill yourself...this CD is AMAZING, there is not a boring part in the whole thing.

I think you made a mistake "Not enough of LaBrie" is a pro, not a con.

James LaBrie sings pretty well on here, I have no qualms with him.

Yeahm I'd say this is one of Labrie's bets, if not best vocal performance, though "Awake" is close behind, probably Images too.

I'm seeing Dream Theater live tomorrow!! w00t

Why do some people say that Portnoy is overrated? What does he do wrong? Overplay maybe? But is that possible if you're in a prog band?

Portnoy's definately not overrated imo, one of my favorite drummers of alll time, along with Martin Lopez and Kai Hahto.

Excellent album, but regression and the beginning of finally free still seem way too pretentious for my tastes.

I like this up album up to, and including, the instrumental after "Home", but it drags after that.

i've listened to this about five times in the last week for some reason, and it's still not getting old. i'm tempted to give it a 5 but for some reason it doesn't seem right. i must confess to not liking the dance of eternity much =/
