these last 3 have been pretty disappointing on my end : (
I would prefer Coquelicot's abnormality to his recent love affair with white-soul.

i agree in general (skeletal lamping is probably my least favorite of montreal record by far), but false priest was pretty normal for barnes' standard and this at least has some interesting ideas and some of his strongest songs in recent memory

I can definitely agree with you there on False Priest Rudy.
I should listen to that record again see how I feel a year or so later.
this, Skeletal and Aldhils Arboretum probably round out my bottom 3 for this band.

false priest is by far his catchiest. basic song structures (compared solely to his catalog) but tons of little flourishes thrown in

Skeletal Lamping has its moments (brass fanfare in the first bit of An Eluardian Instance) but is pretty shitty as a whole.

Skeletal was extremely hard to sit through in a single listen.

Satanic Panic I think is their "catchiest" but Sunlandic would be a very close 2nd imo.
even The Gay Parade is pretty easy to settle into.

least amazing song on the album

satanic panic is my favorite but i would argue that it's just a tad bit less accessible than twins

satanic panic is great, but i cant listen to it in any mood like I can skeletal lamping. its very close between this and skeletal lamping as my favorite oM album
top 5 (which is always changing anyway):
stalks = lamping > fauna (inc. icons) > aldhils > priest

gay parade is very accessible but it sounds sort of dated to me now

Hissing Fauna is the only OM album I really love
only listened to that one, Gay Parade and this, though

Gay Parade musically could be their most traditionally catchy (so fucking Beatles its not even funny sometimes) but the recording equipment they used for that album was so terrible you can hear how much a bigger production budget opened things up for Barnes.
that being said it is still possibly my favorite OM record along with Hissing Fauna, Sunlandic & Santantic.
and yeah I could see that Rudy but tbh both are very similar when it comes to their accessibility imo.
