The vocals on this can get a bit too "operatic" at times

Tbh the bands use of it always reminded me of Daft Punk.

After a three full listens I have to say that it's considerably less to-the-point and catchy than Crossroads. A few tracks, especially towards the beginning, got a bit tedious because it repeated the same beats for too long. Even a nice climax at the end doesn't save it enough for me to be fully satisfactory.
On the other hand, you have tracks such as Doubt, Control and Unknown that embodies the very essence of what makes MIAB one of the best electronic acts for me. It's what they do best. Catchy, perhaps even danceable beats/synths with an emotional undertone.
Not Afraid and Sanctuary are both quite solid. However, Second Reality (while still enjoyable) with its altered vocals reminds me of some black guy going crazy on the autotune. They also had one of those on their Crossroads album (Stalkers) but that one enjoyed greater songwriting and just worked perfectly overall.
Well, to cut things off, solid MIAB album but not quite their best effort yet. That one still goes to Crossroads.

"“Cause and Effect” are stuck in the audience's mind until the realization that four other songs have passed without them noticing" - I'm sorry but what? I am a NEW fan and I felt in love with this album at the first sight. Lack of musical power? I don't even know what that means - I only know that this disc needs time and some "open-mindedness". There is no weak track on this album - every sound and musical layer, a little molody or voice behind, echoing words.... Mind In A Box is on another level and not too many will get it before they drop it. Maybe because they read review written by someone who has not clue. But then maybe it's good, because once you GET what monster Mind In A Box really is, you'll have problem listening to anything else. This album is too good to be real - and this is why it will forever stay in the underground
