Marianas Trench deliver another theatrical & diverse concept album on their 3rd LP 'Ever After'. Straying from their earlier pop-punk style to more of a pop-rock feel, the Canadian quartet allow synths to play as large a role as guitars here. Retaining the catchiness of previous releases, Josh Ramsay's versatile vocal range is once more ably backed by the band's trademark harmonies. Yet, 'Ever After' occasionally verges on being too slick for its own good, with over-length also not helping matters. Still, the song-writing talent & ambition is there for all to see on this maturing grower. Recommended Tracks: Fallout, Haven't Had Enough, By Now & Stutter.

I thought you'd really like them tbh. Every time I think about me deciding on a 4 for this album, I shake my head, but it just took over my mind there for a while. And yes, it's a great band name.

Josh Ramsay's voice completely makes this band. He's probably in my top 5 vocalists of all time

So I listened to this and it's utterly atrocious. "Fallout" might just be the worst song of 2011.

compared to masterpiece theater I don't think this is anywhere close. If you look at it as a pop record it's great but compared to the last album they made it's a bit dissapointing. I wasn't expecting it to be so poppy. [2]

Honestly, it seems blatantly juvenile/generic to me. The vocalist bothers me about 90% of the time and songs like "Haven't Had Enough" and "Fallout" are really lame. Although the music in some of the tracks is decent.

I get what you mean, I definitley see how it could grate on some people. I'm just a huge fan of over-the-top pop, and I personally think the vocalist is amazing

Frankly, I don't see how MT can be labelled generic at all.
It's a very theatrical style of pop, and I've not really heard much like it elsewhere.

Regardless, I really do love this band, and therefore my comment shall join in their defense.
To arms!
Or something.
