I wasn't around in 2007 yet so I can't vouch for that, but 2008 - 2009 were definitely the coolest years for me here yea. I'm now a much, much better writer and peculiarly command some respect on this site haha, but it's not quite as fun anymore.

I miss 2009 as well, but I don't mind 2011. Anyways, great review, Jared! I'm not sure if this is really my cup of tea or not, but you and I tend to agree so I'll look into it just for you.

oh the glory days. 99% of the people on the site suck now, whereas it was closer to 95% in 2008.

Styles, fairly awful, but just trying to keep my head up. 2012 is sure to be better.

Thanks, Matt. But this could be one of the most un-sputnik albums that I've ever reviewed so highly. So expect sugar, haha.

Btw, I like how m/ this thread has gotten.

You're doing awful and I'm just kind of drifting along - Sputnik success stories of 2011. I slightly envy you though, I'm doing worse and worse when it comes to keeping my head up. 2012 better introduce some much needed positivity to both of us.

Also, lol @ Crysis

Styles: Nah, I've been in the gutter for a while, just recently trying to get out. But for sure, it will be better.

I would ask how you ended up in the gutter in the first place, but, ya know, this really isn't the right place for it me thinks.

Wow, this is awesome. Masterpiece Theatre was great, but I didn't expect anything like this to follow it up

compared to masterpiece theater I don't think this is anywhere close. If you look at it as a pop record it's great but compared to the last album they made it's a bit dissapointing. I wasn't expecting it to be so poppy.

Marianas Trench deliver another theatrical & diverse concept album on their 3rd LP 'Ever After'. Straying from their earlier pop-punk style to more of a pop-rock feel, the Canadian quartet allow synths to play as large a role as guitars here. Retaining the catchiness of previous releases, Josh Ramsay's versatile vocal range is once more ably backed by the band's trademark harmonies. Yet, 'Ever After' occasionally verges on being too slick for its own good, with over-length also not helping matters. Still, the song-writing talent & ambition is there for all to see on this maturing grower. Recommended Tracks: Fallout, Haven't Had Enough, By Now & Stutter.
