But when I heard the beginning of the song, it sounded like a (good) Man Overboard song. But when he started singing, it became to sound too much like a bad Man Overboard song. His voice just did not work on that song for me.

I saw one of the newer live videos and he sounds good (though they were indeed playing it at a
slightly lower key, many bands do though).
