It was a sentence on my resume, that's about it.

I hear you on that, I probably would have been the same if I'd gotten the position when I last applied. Gave up my (admittedly unpaid) job at the paper because of that attitude.

Great effort on this review, btw, kid. Never picked you as a Waits fan.

Thanks, it feels good to back into the game. Really? If I had to choose one voice to sing with for the rest of my life, it would be his. Either that or Matt Berninger, it's a close call.

"The last time he sung in that pitch (and correct me if I’m wrong) was in 1992, on 'Dirt In The Ground', and it sounded horrible – I laughed my head off at the thought that Tom ***ing Waits was trying to use a falsetto."

That's the best song he's ever made so ummmm

Good album so far. Reminded me of the first time when I heard Waits with "The Piano has been drinking".

Pretty sure the live version where he ditched the falsetto owned face.

Always loved his arrangement of that, gives me chills especially the intertwined trumpet ramblings.

This is almost on the level of Rain Dogs for me; it improves with every listen. It's like a culmination of all his styles (bar his earliest albums), and that includes all his singing styles. Incredible production too.

So great review, however I feel it deserves more than 4 stars. It seems the only negative thing you pointed out was that he didn't try anything new. For me this album is as unique as most in his discography. Pos'd anyway, liked it a lot.

It seems the only negative thing you pointed out was that he didn't try anything new.

I guess for me that immediately lowers the score at least .5, and I think if he'd tried something completely new it would have only gotten 4.5 from me anyway. To each his own in that regard.
