I'll probably check out the stuff from their back catalog that I haven't heard before I try listening to this. I still need to hear the rest of Oh! Gravity, even if it is as hit and miss as I've heard it is.

Waior your reactions in this thread remind me of a teenage girl discovering her sexuality for the very
first time.
In a "oh-hey-look-tits!" kinda way.

I get the impression that you're nostalgic for Nothing is Sound.
Personally I've enjoyed every album the band's produced. Hello Hurricane was maybe my least favourite but I enjoyed this the whole way through. Found it catchy and relatively diverse. Think it's worth more than a 2.

congrats on the 100th review.

1. This is a messy read my friend, rife with grammatical error. Looks like you wrote it on a cell phone, perhaps? Might wanna give it another proof-read, 'specially given that it's your big 100 ; )
2. Switchfoot has always had a large helping of tacky lyricism, manufactured aggression, under-cooked quirkiness and creativity, and an over-aspirational anthemic sense. They have always had these things. So does every other band in their genre. They also write catchy-as-hell melodies and have a distinctive vocalist. When will you learn that THAT'S. ALL. THEY. NEED. If you expect any more from them, you WILL be disappointed. A perfect blend of catchiness, creativity, and consistency is the exception, not the rule in this genre. If you don't personally like these guys that's fine, but you need to write with PERSPECTIVE. Because in context, Switchfoot is one of the best bands in their genre.

I'm currently writing a review for this album. 2.0 I don't think gives this album justice. This band sounds more mature and talented than ever.

i've lost interest in switchfoot since their last album. im glad this review exists considering the christian review sites seem to be hailing this as ultimatum switchfoot. i listen to one song for like 45 seconds and after it sounded like every other switchfoot song i turned it of
good review, will not be getting
oh and happy 100

We'll always have The Beautiful Letdown
Nice 100th Waior, you are undoubtedly one of my favorite writers on the site, so seeing you reach such a big milestone is very pleasing

The Christian sites are going absolutely bonkers because that's what they do when they hear Christian music that
doesn't blow chunks. People who have given up everything but Christian music have a different pedestal set aside for
the "genre": this is good for Christian music (as if music made by Christians can't really be as good as music by
secular artists). It's like people eating veggie burgers and drinking almond milk when they realise what those devil-
worshipping cow farmers are really up to... hey, this almost tastes like real meat! I guess it'll do.
It's really kind of dumb.
Thanks for the kind words Sowing and Alex, I appreciate it. It does feel, like I said, anticlimactic but that might just
because I'm not really connected to the site anymore. Otherwise I would've written a trilogy on Anberlin's Cities or
something.
