Cheers Irving, i think you should put this on your list to get (yes, i know you're not that big on metal) but it's worth a go.

Challenge to all reviewers: I want to read a review without the word dissonant used.

you don't like "dissonant"? Or you don't know what its definition is and don't like it?

Extreme metal - and metal in general, but in a somewhat lesser extent - is a dissonant music genre by default. If it weren't dissonant, it wouldn't be extreme metal.

Learn your metal "themetalpig"...

Good review. Have a pos. After one spin, I can say this is quite good. Need to listen to it more.

I thought The Blackening was really lacklustre but this sounds intriguing...

I think you should give this album some time Ipod, this is already feeling like a 2.5-3 and I don't think you've had this very long. Really disappointed in the fact concerning the lack of technicality.

Had it for a solid week before writing then gave it an extra couple of days to let it sink in. Actually found it's grown on me

I always liked MH, but their song lengths on their last album ruined it for me. Halo ruled, for the first four minutes. The next five were pointless (except for one or two moments).

First half pales in comparison to the second

Good review, great CD. The bonus tracks are shite though. If you haven't heard them yet, you're not missing much.

Shouldn't have any effect on your listening pleasure here.

My initial impression was a 4.5, I'm going to most likely drop that down. It's a great CD, but I find myself going back to listen to 'Age of Hell' by Chimaira more.
