It's kinda cool to hear another take on such a popular album but that's really it... I mean I'd rather
listen to MTV Unplugged In New York than this :/
edit: Oh and I got this from a friend who's a journalist so I dunno if it's really available for
Album Rating: 3.5
it was supposed to come out tomorrow which is why the release date here says 10/11 but i guess it got pushed back to the 24th or something. as far as i know it hasn't leaked
if you rate this higher than nevermind you are a fag
Thou's cover of Something In The Way is waaaay better than anything on this album
Yeah, true story. There's been a lot of cool covers this year.
Well I wouldn't have know if it wasn't for you Angel ;]
Also, auch KILL!
Thank you for the update Chan.
I liked the Spin cover album... I'd say I'm interested in hearing this.
It's great to see a review of this that isn't blindly in love with the original album.
I actually can't stand the original. Maybe I'll give this a go.

Nirvana is so good. Surprised you don't like 'em, Chan. This is a fantastic review though, I agree with Nick up there. I don't think 'Nevermind' is one of the best albums I've ever heard (4/5), but it is a solid album. In Utero is a real piece of work.
yea nirvana rule
Nevermind is too pop for some people, understandable. That's what's so brilliant about Cobain's songwriting though, it's so simplistic and stripped down to the raw basics but so nuanced and layered, it's what makes his work so brilliant and universal. He knew that melody drove everything, and that lyrics came second. Then of course it helps that he was a brilliant lyricist as well, so it all came together in a perfect package.
I'm not surprised In Utero is more popular here though. It's far less pop-oriented and more abstract, heavier influence from noise rock in general so it probably appeals to the indie crowd more as it's everything that was great about Cobain's songwriting without the main focus on pop and melody. Plus everyone loves Nevermind. It's not cool to like something that everyone loves and is one of the highest selling albums of all time.

Where can I get this?
i jammed a lot on nirvana growing up but i really dont care about them that much. ill listen to them like twice a year and be like "oh yeah this shit is good" and then forget about them.
compilation looks like its gonna suck fat balls
Album Rating: 3.5
i do need to listen to in utero at some point. after hearing nevermind i didn't care enough to listen to anything else, and maybe if i'd listened to it then i wouldn't have liked it either but it's probably worth it to try it now
nevermind is their least representative album but if your biggest problem with it is the abrasive elements it's unlikely that you'd enjoy in utero or bleach either
would check this out if the bands involved were remotely good
mewithoutYou's cover is soo fuckin good.
