These guys always gave me a more Johnny Foreigner sort of vibe, but yeah that song does have a bit of that BATS feeling going for it.

Band name is totally boss. I was pleasantly surprised by these guys(I kind of got a Billy Talent feel but to each their own). Great review!

Never judge a book by its cover Martine.
Thanks Alistair. Comparison hadn't really hit me. Hmmm, interesting.
As cbd said, JoFo is the more obvious comparison. Some LosCamp! as well.
Wow, the interesting comparisons keep coming. Billy Talent. Dunno about that. Maybe vocally (including backing) & some of the crazier passages, but not really musically.

This was pretty okay for me. I think instead of doing a bunch of pretty good songs, they should have done 7 or 8 really great songs.

I know what you mean dcha, but it is an album. (a) It's not easy to just make 7 great songs, and (b) your way of thinking sounds a bit like that of the *Tunes generation. (Letter intentionally replaced with asterisk).

This certainly isn't Indie Pop haha. Rules though

Yea, okay, you smug fuck.

SmugFuk. Sounds like a good name for an alt.
Rowdy, I'm not sure what it is. It's as close to Indie-pop as it is to post-hardore, or rock, or pop.

My comparison was more in reference to the "screaming" in the bridge of the single. Probably should of mention that.

No probs. I worked it out & it's actually not a bad comparison to a certain extent.

Problem is that Davey listens to so much of this 'type' of music (controlled demolitions with loud guitars) that he can instantly pinpoint about 20 albums which form a triangulation to the album he's reviewing whereas most people are just like "ummm yeah they sound a bit like miley cyrus"

"controlled demolitions with loud guitars" Sounds like a worksite down the road where the jackhammers didn't turn up.
I actually think you listen to more of this type of music Adam (controlled demolitions by the English). Surprised you haven't listened yet...

i heard e numbers and was like WOAH THIS SOUNDS AMAZING
but then i listened to the track you posted on the staff blog that muscle memory and was like eeeeeeh this is ok but nowhere nearly as good

Then it's gonna be a mixed bag for you. I'd actually say more songs sound like 'E Numbers' than 'Muscle Memory', the latter of which seems clearly to have been recorded as the single for the album.

Knott this is the kind of thing you like then write a really good review for and we go "good review, pos!! : )" then shake our heads and go "ow knott" right?
|

Nah I don't think so I think it's actually good.
That is to say I don't know what you're getting at.
Good to know, Davey. I'll undoubtedly check it out but I've been immersed in The Color Spectrum for what seems like a year and a bit.

Miles check out E Numbers it rules.

"I've been immersed in The Color Spectrum for what seems like a year and a bit."
Isn't that because it goes for a year & a bit?
"Listening to this now... Doing backflips"
Now that's a strange mental picture. Have you had a shave to improve the wind resistance factor?
|

Haha. Yeah, pretty much, but it's such an encompassing record it's so easy to not care that new things are coming out, it's a bit scary actually. Planning on writing about either the new Set Your Goals or The Horrors in the next few days though.
