Sure, Born This Way went against the grain with its unique brand of techno-metal, but it sucked.
There's metal on a Gaga album? Even if it sucked, I might have to check it out just for that.

Actually, aside from some of my issues with Gaga's appropriation of herself as a gay icon and carefully manufactured faux-art persona, my main issue with Born This Way is that I don't care for how it sounds. It's very overproduced, in my opinion..
