Great review. I think this is the best effort from Kamelot. I really like the black halo but this one is very solid.
I love how dynamic "center of the universe" is.

Center of the Universe is great :D
This album as a whole is cohertent and flows quite well, yet I feel that there are some standouts (which isn't a bad thing). Some of these are spectacular on their own. The concept is cool too.
For the skeptics, this isn't your avg. corny/lame power metal. Try it out. Its more like uber-dramatic prog metal than OMG WIZERDS metal.
I like this cd and the review...good job, Crav. This Message Edited On 12.09.05

I've heard that this album is similar to City of Evil by A7X, is this true?
Oh, and good review.

**** ****IN NO! This album has no relation to Avenged Sevenfold or City Of Evil and Kamelot sounds nothing like them. Everything about this album Avenged Sevenfold could only dream of achieveing. *shutters at the mere thought of someone dumb enough to think that*

Sorry, this is all I had to go on.

Kamelot's sound (and this CD), fits that exact description, but there is no way a
band liek Kamelot should be compared to Avenged Sevenfold. This Message Edited On 01.25.06

I just figured that since I was asking for an album like City Of Evil, and discribed all of the instruments on it that maybe these two would be similar.

I honestly don't know why you would want an album like City Of Evil, cause it's Avenged Sevenfold's worst album IMO. This album meets taht description, but blows the sh*t out of Avenged Sevenfold.
|
| |
I want an album like CoE because, hmm maybe I liked it, and IMO means in your opinion, not Drunken Vikings.

lol I'm just joshin you, don't take it seriously. Sorry if I was being a d**k about the Avenged Sevenfold thing, but I don't think that they deserve to be compared to this band or this album.

No problem, is this album really that good?

it's a classic. Even if you don't liek Power Metal, this album is great because 1) the vocalist is actually really good (unlike most power metal bands) 2) the music is epic, and the story to it fist well 3) it's part 1 of a two part story (continued on The Black Halo) and 4) the guitarist is awesome as ****.

Wow. This album has some blistering tracks and some nice ones too ('On A Coldest Winter Night' has grown on me and I love 'Wander'). I agree with the guy above too: the singer has a great voice and I like the bassist especially on 'Farewell' where he has a couple of cathcy fills.
but...
(and it's only a really tiny thing in the grand scheme of things) does anyone else think the drummer is a bit heavy on the double bass? It's one of those things that is great when used sparingly but shouldn't ge used too often.
Still amazing though!

the drummer came from a death metal background from what I heard
