Gonna try and add it in right now. My computer is being gay as fuck and the site is taking forever to load.
But anyways, as I said, this album is more black metal than it is symphonic. Not cheesy in any way.

Black metal purists hate bands becase a lot of [generalisation] are bands and so if band could otherwise be symphonic bands they would not hate bands they originally thought were [generalisation]. Indeed blast beats alll throughout, shreiks are well executed, but again bands shall always be [generalisation], plus sounds a little like Emperor etc. 4 stars.
Look Hawks, in close to 100 reviews your running commentary hasn't improved a great deal. Your knowledge is undoutebly expansive within the genre, however you have failed to express it in ways to which I and I think many others can relate or be encouraged by. How is this and every other 4 star review any different from anything else, other than to say its only because of your lack of objectivity towards the (sub)genre(s)?

I don't really know how else I need to say it. I explained how it's different from the hordes of other symphonic black metal albums and gave examples, which is pretty much why I think this album is so good and why others would enjoy it even if they aren't a fan of the genre, which I also mentioned. I know my reviews are samey and shit, but I think it gets the point across for the most part.

It's at least worth it to youtube a song or two and see what you think.

because symphonies = epic and bm = kvlt, they believe that symphonic bm = epic kvlt
lol Flamm, but i agree.

Nice review. Actually, I think all of the bands albums follow the same formula of black metal first, then symphonic. The reason behind this, I think, is that Alghazanth are closer to melodic black metal, but have symphonic black metal parts incorporated.
By the way, for people who want to check this out and like more guitar driven black metal check out The Polarity Axiom, very good atmosphere and instrumentation.
Also, for good symphonic black metal that is drowned in keyboards but still awesome check out Tartaros and Obsidian Gate.

Youtubing "For thirteen moons" now.
It's really interesting, they're not trying to reinvent the wheel, but they know what they're doing.
It reminds me more of Graveworm than Carach actually.

Thanks guys. I never got a Graveworm feel from these guys. Definitely gave off more of the feeling of Carach Angren mixed with Dissection to me.

Oh yeah this is my favourite BM record of 2011, next to the new Ash Borer, Peste Noire and Aaskereia.
Great job Hawks.

Thanks bud. Glad to hear you like it that much.

Me too, I had almost given up all hope of 2011 being a good year for BM and then the new Peste Noire and this came by. I'm also totally digging the artwork, it's lovely.

Yeah it's pretty sweet. I'm probably one of the only people who thinks it's actually been a pretty good year for black metal overall. Not fantastic, but still solid.

will check it out

"Definitely gave off more of the feeling of Carach Angren mixed with Dissection to me."
Yeah, after hearing the album I can see the references to CA on some songs. But I still listen some Graveworm at certain spots. :P

A solid year in metal
