someone mentioned a while ago how they think this is going to be "indie canon" after a decade or so and I'm totally on board with that

I agree that it should be, but I don't know if it's popular enough to be in the "indie canon". When I think of Indie Canon, I think of: Aeroplane over the Sea, Boxer, For Emma... etc. You know, albums that everybody who follows the Indie-music scene even remotely, will instantly recognize.

I don't know if this actually had a big enough impact to justify a rank among those albums. It's in my personal canon for sure.

Well yeah the comparison to turn on the bright lights is pretty far off anyways. I like it better, but it's not even in the same ballpark style wise.

I think this is the most interesting album to come out of 2011. Heavy Pop is just perfect.
