Yeah. If Foster the People won a grammy nobody would be in shock. When Arcade Fire did on the other hand...



And the Strokes were big 10 years ago. Their new material has done very little for the mainstream. Maybe I should rephrase: "Band has started the NEXT surge of indie music to the mainstream."

Not really. I guess Grizzly Bear got a rep from Jay-Z but that's about it. Veckatimest made #8 on billboard but a ton of indie bands are getting high on billboard now.



Two Weeks, which is obviously the most known single, was not played on many radio stations and did not chart at all. In the indie rock scene, yes they are mainstream. But in the real world not at all.



Now Phoenix on the other hand had two songs chart, one of them on the Billboard Hot 100. Now they were as close to mainstream as any indie band I can think of.
