I just read it then, and nothing really stuck out to me as worthy of being chopped. Are you referring to some particular paragraphs?
For some of the songs he/she does seem to ramble a bit, and doesn't present a simple coherent argument for what makes the song good/bad/interesting. If you also argue that he/she needs to rework some of the paragraphs and sentences, I would also agree with this. Some of the sentences are about 60 words long which makes me cringe.
i feel like a dick criticizing it because it's clear that he spent a ton of time on it, but to me 1000 words should generally be all that's needed to get one's point across. i mean, odds are most people will see this thing's length and instantly dismiss it.
Yeah as I said before, staff reviews/good reviews of the past were easily and regularly of a far greater length than today's standard. By today's standards of writing (on sputnik), this review is a bit of a behemoth. But that doesn't necessitate that you shouldn't go into more depth, and that you must present it in a length that is accessible/appealing to all.
For me though, when a review is quite extensive like this one, all I hope is that it reads easily. I don't agree with some of the points of the review, the points aren't always entirely coherent, and I think there could be some tuning of sentences/paragraphs. But while reading the review, I wasn't struck by how long the review was, nor felt it drag on too long.
So really was this review well written? Yes, I would say so, and the writer seems to be a fairly good writer, better than most on here. There are just opportunities to improve on.

reviewing is a big time commitment compared to commenting once every hour or two, despite the latter adding up to waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than the former

thanks man! i proofread albums from time to time (maniac!'s laura stevenson album being the most recent) and i do a ton of artist edits and the occasional news article, but mostly i just dick around here.

I'm really, slowly falling in love for this album, but I think that maybe it's not that powerful as you painted it. I think it's primarly Gaga being herself, and "herself", in this case, means "the weirdest possible". Actually, deeper than that: Gaga is the spirit of pop in a way not even Madonna was. She is excessive, theatrical, grandiloquent, ambitious, inclusive. All times two. And BTW is the most quintessential demonstration of this spirit to date.
But I really enjoyed your review, it's really good to see a grounded opinion on a pop take around here.

Alright, I just read through my review and fixed the most blatant errors. Sorry about not doing it earlier. I had actually written four paragraphs when I managed to click something that made me lose all my work and had to rewrite a good chunk of it. So, though it's no excuse, I just said "fuck it" and submitted it.
LiberiFatali: thanks for explaining the long review (saved me a couple of keystrokes there!) and the feedback. I would really appreciate it if you told me which points weren't coherent and need work. I suspect some of them were just corrected after the proofread but that some still need further development. I'm all for improving the review and my work in the future. As for the long, 60 word sentences...that's just something I need to work on. I usually feel more comfortable with longer sentences for whatever reason. Hopefully practicing will help me present the same points in a less wordy manner. (PS: I'm a he, though taking into consideration that I may be a female is a pleasant surprise).

At people in general: please don't feel bad about criticizing or disagreeing with my points. The very reason I wrote a long review was to (hopefully) generate more discussion on the album. I care more about musical analysis than having people agree.

@caiocoletti: It's kind of funny since I just fell in love with the song Judas when I first heard it yesterday and the album's high points didn't let me down. I'd love it if you were more specific on why you think the album isn't as powerful as I think (new perspectives are always fun). Glad you liked the review though!
