But basically it all rules, every track has outstanding moments and it has more atmosphere than anything else they ever did

Been going back into Death Cab's pre-Transatlanticism work since I'm seeing them in a few weeks and this is great. Transatlanticism is one of my favorites of all time so I have no idea why I've never listened to the early stuff.

Yeah this album kind of drags in the middle, it's still great though. Just shy of a 4 imo.

I don't know if I'd argue this is better than Transatlanticism, but this is certainly my favourite Death Cab album. After loving Transatlanticism though being disappointed by Plans and their debut, I went into this somewhat cautious, and whilst at first I was disappointed, this has grown on me so much. I love the groove on For What Reason, and Epilogue, No Joy in Mudville and Scientist Studies are three of Gibbard's best songs. And the slight emo tinge is so charming on this.

Listened to this earlier, but was distracted and only got to Company Calls which was the only thing that stood out at the time. What are your favorite songs on here, Sput?

Only 4th best Death Cab for me, 5th if the Stability EP counts. "Title Track", "The Employment Pages", and "Company Call" are all too notch though.

I dig these earlier Death Cab albums. More personality.

They peaked in the Photo Album/Trans era, Narrow Stairs is underrated though and Plans is really good too if disproportionately popular. Their most recent two are pretty lame though and Ben Gibbard's solo album from a few years ago sucks. The debut doesn't do a whole ton for me either.
