i was saying this to a friend the other day and essentially boiled down to the fact that their debut LP struck me as, and forgive the terrible name, 'plastic-folk' in that it was just so clean and shiny but ultimately felt so disposable and so much more impersonal than my favourite folk artists. this album remedies that hugely in very subtle steps. exceeded my expectations in every way.

I would like to point out that W.B. Yeats was an Irish and not a British poet. Sorry to be picky but 800 years of oppression makes you value what is yours. Great review! Absolutely one of the best I've read on sputnik.

I don't get how people could dislike such infectious folk music. =/

I think I can understand it...I mean, you could argue that the band's debut is a bit by-the-book, which this most certainly isn't. But I understand why people adore the first record...I really liked it too.

As I recall, Lewis gave the debut a 3, which isn't a poor rating.

It is not metal enough for at least half the userbase.

Yeah, probably should fix that. I had to study is poetry in school (being Irish myself) and I actually did Lake Isle of Inisfree in great detail. It's a beautiful poem.

'The Second Coming' is certainly my favorite of his work though.

This is exactly, EXACTLY what they needed to do for a follow-up. Still on the fence about whether or not to give this a 5. We'll see in a year.

Thank God I wasn't the only one. I absolutely love the final paragraph...I was trying to explain this to a friend yesterday, and they didn't understand what I meant. Amazing review, possibly one of your best!

I'm actually not sure if this is better than their debut. =/
Leaving it at a 4.5 for now. (Yeah I finally listened to it)

Don't get me wrong, it's more interesting and diverse but it has lost that sort of Nordic charm of their first.
