Hesitant to listen to it for some reason
probably cause I loved SotS so much.

Just wait, album gets better as it goes imo. "Providence" is amazing.
|

I need to look into this. Is this album anything like Bergtatt ?

Not in any way whatsoever

Oh damn, because that one was incredible. I'll get this anyway, what the hell
|
| |
They both have great atmospheres but that's it
this is like atmospheric electro-ambient-derpity music
oh and with added classical influences
|
| |
That sounds really awesome, actually. If it has a lot of classical moments then sign me up

If you liked Bergtatt just listen to Nattens and Kveldssanger. If you want electronic/ambient/all sorts of other shit then give this a shot.

Love this album. Average rating is way too low imo.

Yeah, it took me quite a while to appreciate this properly.

Album's a grower for sure.
Hi Base.
|

album is a joke it basically rips-off Coil's night/dark era and takes it into a British lyrical context. Ulver should stop paraphrasing sounds and release good music not expensive compilations of cheap music and wannabe glitchindustrializedrock bullshit!
|
| |
like "ripping off" wouldn't constantly be happening. And if by "good music" you mean "do BM again" I'm gonna call it right now: never gonna happen.
Agalloch has riffs that are sonically so similar to Death in June songs you could think they're almost direct copies.
|
| |
yeah some acoustic chords from But What Ends when The Symbols Shatter & Brown Book were used on Mantle
& their neofolk stuff, I believe. And I'm not a close-minded metalhead, not a metalhead at all anyway,
their new music is way more interesting and complex than their bm days.
Not all their music is truly groundbreaking yet most people that are afraid of listening to SPK or
Einstürzende Neubauten believe that they are experiencing something transcendence of all things avant-
garde with Ulver. Whatev. it's annoying. Ulver is good though, and Shadows of the Sun is almost a
masterpiece, this album isn't-though.
