Strong review, good job. Your disappointment shines through a little too obviously though haha. Tompkins technically is a fantastic vocalist by any standards and can pull the stuff off live, you just don't dig the guy and that's fine. Abi gave a more unique sound anyway and I miss hearing it, Sunrise is a total pisstake now. Nevertheless, I do feel you don't give enough credit to how well they pull off the ambient sound (e.g. April). Grooves like a tit and I'm pretty sure any boddhisattva can attain nirvana to that shit.
Production leaves a lot to be desired but to my ears the bass is perfect in the mix, something other bands can learn from. Here's to hoping that next album they won't start every song with a clean guitar washed in reverb and delay haha.
This materials been around for far too long, the songs sound too thought out, as if attempts at perfection. Tesseract used to be my favorite in the 'djent' scene, and I would hate to label them 'djent' before. Because of the recycled bland riffing I'll just call you djent from now on Tesseract .

"Summary describes my opinion of this album perfectly, well done man."
Same here, but I don't see it as a bad thing at all. This album is something you can get lost in, totally my thing.
