feel good moment

I can be pretty vicious in the threads, there are very few moments when I act like who I really am outside of sputnik

I will have the review for The God Machine up hopefully my saturday night. Also I knew you would enjoy it once I saw the album was assigned to you
I love that first The God Machine album. To me it's like alt. Doom Metal with a bit of old school Metallica every once in awhile. Their whole sound is huge. Just make sure to listen to the whole album because the second half really gets kind of doomy and has a few surprises.

Holy shit this is catchy as hell! .... now that I'm done with that I'm going to find this in it's entirety as it is far to wonderful (somehow I forgot/glazed over the "harsh" notifier in the review, so it was a pleasant surprise).

I can see where the one long song bit comes into play, and I definitely agree with the long drive part - I might have to use that idea.
Yeah, it is definitely catchy and the synth definitely hides the harsh vocals for the most part.

I already knew this would explode once Willie reviewed it. I had this planned out when I suggested it on that list
Yeah, but how did you know this would be assigned to me? It could have went to anyone on that list. Plus, it probably won't 'explode' simply because it's too old to be featured. The reviews in the staff area don't always get a lot of traffic.

I had a hunch, I knew it would go either to you or Deviant.

I suppose I just needed another harsh EBM album, because this one really makes me smile. My favorite tracks would have to be "Terre Humaine" and "The Game" while "Not Yet" makes me laugh at the samples and how well they actually work. By far though the Die Sektor remix of "All Lost Before Dawn" is the best remix on the album, and closes it beautifully.

This is going to end up sitting with Combichrist's "Everybody Hates You" and Psyclon Nine's discography for me.

I wouldn't really compare this to Psyclon Nine because they aren't dance like Detroit Diesel and Combichrist are, Psyclon Nine is straight Industrial and Combichrist has sort of switched to become Industrial as well.

Also if you want more EBM I have plenty of album for you.

I wasn't necessarily making comparisons, just Psyclon Nine has some of my favorite distortion and tracks to date, and "Not Yet" reminded me of something Combichrist would do but with more success.

Rec's? Yes please!

Bloc do you dislike EBM or is it just certain artists that you despise?

Me? Dislike EBM? My dear boy, I RUN EBM around here. But I suppose I am very bit picky about different acts.

Haha ya I kind've figured you were picky on artists as I've seen you post on other reviews and whatnot but just wanted to be clear. So why the average rating for this?

Acanthus, I just felt like these guys didn't really bring anything new to the table at the time. But there may have been a chance I wasn't really paying too much attention to this when I first listened so I suppose I can give this another run.

And Butch, you know I am well aquainted with both haha!

DD is definitely better than ESC now that I compare the two. Butch, I remember you telling me to check this out again so I believe I finally will.

I can sympathize there, I just feel like they did everything well instead of innovative. The vocals are a nice mix between some of the harsher artists and something more danceable, and help sell the album to me.

It's about time lol, Detroit Diesel kicks the shit out of almost all EBM. I am proud to say that they are Canadian.

I think Terre Humaine is quite innovative in that it is the only harsh EBM to incorporate synths similar to Euro.

Dancey harsh EBM is easily one of my all time favourite genres so even I was a bit surprised when I wasn't feeling this. But who knows, hopefully another listen will energize me.

They don't... read the review ;) That doesn't mean that they aren't totally enjoyable though. I hate that people ding bands for being awesome but 'unoriginal'. To me, it's cool because you don't have to wait as long for an album that has a sound that you're totally into.

Also, if I can throw out a rec to everyone: Acylum - The Enemy

Bloc calls them Terror EBM, but they're freakin' awesome (just ignore the 2nd and 3rd track).
