We've pared it down to nothing but a bunch of superficial signifiers, if you will. That's not sexuality. That's manufactured sleaze.
yeah that's essentially what I was trying to say -- so then yes, I agree with you 100%.
and again, sexy review

you saying people are desensitized is wrong. sex is still overtly taboo in this country (the US bro) and its pop culture

Desensitized to certain elements of sexuality. Real, uninhibited sex and sexuality is indeed still taboo in the U.S. for sure.

yeah I guess I was referring more to the infatuation with all things "stick" (i.e. disco stick, magic stick) and stupid sexual metaphors such as that.
I mean, nonetheless, sex is still more prevalent in mainstream media than it ever was before (in the U.S. at least -- I mean at one point a man and women weren't allowed to be seen in the same bed on television, by fucking law lol)

and part of it sounds like if the hipsters who made witch house were really into r kelly instead of dj screw
Yeah, because you know witch house and stuff....

I guess it really just depends on what kind of sexuality we're talking about. Today's sexuality is no less rigid than any other generation's - it's chauvinistic and objectifying. I don't want to oversell this record's innovation, because in all honesty, it's not a particularly forward-thinking mixtape, but there seems to be a highly charged eroticism in this stuff that feels at once unrepressed and - this is even more unusual - realistic.

I much prefer this over Frank Ocean, honestly, although I enjoyed Nostalgia, Ultra. I think the less confessional lyrics on this connect with me more, whereas Ocean's stuff is a bit too heart-on-its-sleeve.. if that makes any sense.
