Tangy: Overrated? By who? No-one knows about this band

magicaltroll (and anyone else interested): Here is a link to "Star Crossed", one of the best songs on the album

Tangy: Overrated? By who? No-one knows about this band
Yes, I second this statement.
They are a fairly obscure band, if they are obscure in an even more obscure genre of music such as avant-garde how can they be overrated?
|
| |
Well, they could have fans saying "omg arcturus are god!!!" when they aren't really as good as their fans claim. Personally, I think they are every bit as good as everyone says.
|
| |
Obscurity does not equate to good music.
Obscurity does not equate to good music.
Did we ever say that? No, we did not. We questioned your statement of saying they are overrated when they are hardly even known.
|

And this is good music

Tangy is wrong, which is weird cause that doesn't happen often. This album is brilliant and entirely unknown where I am. I'm pretty sure in order to be overrated, it has to be rated in the first place (outside of MX of course)

They aren't that underground. Sure, I admit that I can't seem to find anything but their first album in Australia, but they are on sites like allmusic, and you can find reviews for them around. It's not like they're Maudlin of The Well or anything.
|
| |
Brilliant album.
I guess they sound like Borknagar, but better...

They're not that underground. I bought this at an average tower records store.
EDIT: By "this" I mean La Masquerade Infernale.

Guys, guys ,guys. Do I have to throw the "opinion" card on the table?

^^^ It looks like you may have to.
But be careful because I still have a hand full of trump.

I listened to this for the first time in a week today. I think that trip-hop type part of Nightmare Heaven is my favourite part, other than the piano solos and when that lead part comes in at the start of Kinetic. I've gotten a few of my friends onto these guys. Good stuff.

Good album, but I still prefer "La Masquerade..." I think a big part of it was Vortex's vocals on that album...something really clicked with them for me, especially on "The Chaos Path."
Still, this is a decent album in it's own right, but I was kinda dissapointed to not hear anything that surpassed the song I had already heard, Star Crossed. "Radical Cut" is pretty badass, though, and the piano solos rock, but I prefer the mood of Masquerade to Sham's spacier sound.

Kinetic and Radical Cut are my favorites. Kickass CD and Review man. :thumb:

I just got this album a few days ago, and holy crap, it's amazing. I love how they draw in so many influences to make extremely unique sound. It's a shame that Garm had to leave. Any news on a new vocalist?

Garm is one of my favorite vocalists. I liked the avant-garde aspect ALOT.
Oooh. Lookie who rated this a 1! It's my good 'ol buddy SELHIM, who negged and rated lowly practically everything I like because SELHIM is a HIM fanboy and a prick. This Message Edited On 11.04.05
