what's the biggest lie?

that everything you do makes me want to dieee

Album Rating: 4.5
is that it though? like actually in an attempt to interpret the lyrics
if he's referring to "everything you do makes me want to die" in like that post-breakup helplessness way, then it doesn't make sense that it would be the biggest lie. so it makes it seem like it's something he doesn't blatantly mention in the lyrics, which is confusing

I always thought it was sort of an indecisiveness on his part (which a lot of people go through after a breakup), but I could be wrong
|
| |
that's one of my top 5 favorite songs ever and I still haven't figured it out...
the thing I love most about it is the ambiguity, the indecisiveness as mike said.
is it that we're so precious together?
or is it that everything you do makes me want to die?
either way, they're both lies... because real relationships fall somewhere in the middle, when you think enough about it. it really hits home, for me, because in real life I tend to take things too serious with my relationship or be too dramatic, in both positive and negative ways... and I think this is a reminder to try and stay grounded.
that's my take, at least.

i don't know when elliott smith became my favorite artist by a huge margin but i enjoy it
edit: sorry that kind of interrupted the flow of things but i was just reveling in his lyrics and i don't care how weird that sounds
