Review Summary: Has Pendulum's "Immersion" changed the landscape of electronic music forever?

Well... no. But hey, it was a nice try.

Fun and accessible for the most part, "Immersion" is perfect for the casual electronic listener. Its catchy beats and pulsating rhythms give one the feel of, for lack of a better description, being in a European techno club. Fans of stadium pump-up tunes such as "Sandstorm" or "Kernkraft 400" should be amply satisfied and come back for multiple listens.

On the flipside, connoisseurs of critically acclaimed electronic acts such as Flying Lotus, LCD Soundsystem, or The Glitch Mob may find this album bland and somewhat unappealing. Indeed, I found that for many songs on the album, while they may have had a catchy intro and interesting riffs, the song would never deviate from that initial riff, leaving me wanting more but, unfortunately, never satisfied.

However, interesting tracks weren't nonexistent. Pendulum managed to deliver on songs such as the two part "The Island", the enjoyable "Crush", and the post-hardcore track (not a typo) "Self vs. Self (feat. In Flames)".

If you want to listen to some fun electronic music without having to dig in the catacombs of the more unaccessible, less mainstream acts, look no further than "Immersion". However, for one who is looking for a more "artistic" album, "Immersion"s monotonous song structure and repetitive tunes would be a major turn-off, and I wouldn't give the thought of buying this album too much consideration.

This was my first review. I kept it concise because, honestly, my opinions on the album were concise. Constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated!

Your writing isn't particularly bad (indeed, aside from your use of personal pronouns [I, you, etc.], there isn't much wrong here), the problem is that this whole review is incredible shallow. All that I've gathered from this is that the album is electronic music with a post hardcore track and it isn't particularly good (and that really isn't enough). Go into more detail about what this sounds like and why you feel the way you do about it.

'Self Vs. Self' isn't a post hardcore track, like at all

Self Vs Self is an In Flames track with a bit of drum 'n bass thrown in...
This review is a bit too concise, I'd like to see you expand your reasoning.
edit: In Flames are melodeath.

I would echo what everyone else has said. You need to be more informative and if you're making references to other bands/genre cross-overs make sure you know what you're talking about.

Someone who's never heard this album or read reviews about before (i.e, me) will have absolutely no clue what this album sounds like. Work on actually describing the album more. The best reviews are the ones that paint a picture in your head of what it sounds like.
