kee where is my "all i really need is stars of the lid" rebuttal?
this is amazing but all i really do need is stars of the lid
it's true. I like a couple pieces off here, especially the second track and White Flag, but I don't know I just find myself skipping all the other songs after about a minute.
It's a fickle genre for me, because it's all essentially (though not always) based around pretty sounds and that can only go so far. Stars of the Lid are the best at this stuff and I don't really know why other than to say they just are (yay for terrible criticisms). Barwick sometimes gets there, like the chanting in White Flag or when her voice goes super high in the second track, but not enough for me, it seems at least for the moment.
i don't think the compliment this record earns the most is that it's 'pretty'. i mean, it is, but like i said, there's an engaging structure on this record. go look for it or i'll genuinely hide your copy of the refinement of their decline
I get the structure, I just don't think that it's all that engaging.
then let us engage in bitter namecalling
i am not kee-n on you
