I know, it just hasn't clicked with me yet. I don't know if I'm listening to it in the right mood or not.

It's definitely one that needs a bit of time to sink in. Let England Shake and The Glorious Land were probably the only two songs that struck me right away.

What is it though? I can't bring myself to bump this up, I just don't see what makes it special.

I can't explain this to you Steoandnoodles, I felt exactly the same way when I first listened to it. but now, argh. It's so infectious, and tightly written

one of the best rock albums of recent memory

One of my favorites of the year so far, took me about 3 listens to get into it. The Glorious Land is amazing.

Best of 2011? Could very well be. Been listening non-stop the last couple of days.

This is like really cool, but that's where I draw the line for some reason.

Yeah. It's pretty high-end and stuff, but it's definitely not out of control.

I absolutely hate the production on this album

This was my favourite of the nominated albums by a distance so I'm glad it won.

I was supporting King Creosote as an underdog, though.

Congrats to PJ Harvey for winning The Mercury Prize. =)
Sort of glad it wasn't Adele. =/

Glad it won this prize and not some nonsense pop.

It was either this or James Blake for me. Personally would have preferred if James Blake won but he's only on his debut, he has plenty of time. =)

What's the deal with Wild Beasts? Did they simply release their album too late? Because I know that if an album doesn't come out within a certain number of months it's nomination is often pushed over a year. (For example XX who's album came out in 2009 but one 2010's Mercury Prize)

Nope, I think they were just omitted.

Hm, that's unfortunate.

Ah well, probably wouldn't have beaten 'Let England Shake' any way. =P

Probably not, but I thought the nominations list overall was pretty average. They definitely chose the right album from that list, though.
